OKX Delists Tether’s USDT for EU Users Amid Regulatory Concerns

  OKX has discontinued support for cryptocurrency trading pairs involving Tether’s USDT stablecoin for users based in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).  Starting Monday, OKX’s platform restricted spot crypto trading to only USDC and euro pairs, while USDT could only be traded against USDC and euro, according to a report from Bloomberg.  The change was initially reported by a trader on X, who shared a customer support note citing regulatory compliance and platform security as the reasons for the adjustment.

Why is Bitcoin price down today?

              Bitcoin price is down today as an uptick in liquidations and recent GBTC outflows negatively impact investor sentiment. The price of Bitcoin dropped to $62,400 on March 19 as a broader market correction reinforced BTC’s resistance at the $68,000 level. BTC is now trading 15% below its $73,835 all-time high reached on March 14. Bitcoin price fell under $63,000 on March 19, causing a marketwide sell-off that saw the global crypto market capitalization drop 8% over the past 24 hours to rest at $2.4 trillion, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Other top 10 non-stablecoin cryptocurrencies are also flashing red, with Ether ETH $3,332 down 8.4% over the last 24 hours. Solana SOL $183, BNB $533, Cardano ADA $0.62 and Dogecoin DOGE $0.13 slumped more than 8% over the same time period.    

Nigeria and Turkey Biggest Adopters of Crypto in 2024

 Looking into the rate of crypto adoption and the share of cryptocurrency owners in 56 countries as of February 2024, Nigeria and Turkey lead the pack, according to data from Statista. Notably, selected North American and European countries rank significantly lower. The data was gathered by the Consumer Insights Global Survey of Internet users worldwide. It includes over 2 million participants from selected countries. More specifically, the survey period was January to December 2023. There were between 451 and 10,048 respondents (18-64 years) per country.

Trump Poll Numbers In US Elections Boosted By Crypto Community

           A recent survey conducted by leading crypto venture capital firm Paradigm reveals that Donald Trump’s poll numbers for the 2024 US Presidential Election enjoy significant support from the crypto community.  The survey, which included 1,000 registered voters, found that 48% of crypto owners plan to vote for the former president, while 39% intend to vote for current U.S. President Joe Biden.
